Peggy Sutton
Mayfair Academy of Fine Arts
Peggy Sutton was the executive director of Mayfair Academy of Fine Arts and the Mayfair Performing Company from 1978 to 2020 where she taught and mentored over 20,000 students. Mayfair Academy was founded by Peggy Sutton's father, Tommy Sutton, in 1957. Since 1978, Ms. Sutton has taught dance, managed the day-to-day operations of the Academy and, until its closing in 2021, continued to oversee the creative direction for all of Mayfair’s productions. In this capacity, she has written, directed, choreographed, and produced a wide range of performance events and theater productions at venues throughout Chicago. Her choreography also extended beyond Mayfair to reach institutions including Chicago Links Cotillion, Chicago Public Schools, Chicago Park District, Valparaiso University and numerous dance competitions; she has received several awards and honors for her work, both locally and nationally. Having relocated to Gilbert, Arizona, she is currently working to archive all of Mayfair’s 63 years of content.
