Chicago Dance History Project preserves histories of the Chicago dance community through the collection and preservation of oral history interviews and public panels. Our mission is to document and celebrate the rich and diverse history of dance in Chicago, showcasing the contributions of dancers, choreographers, educators, and advocates. Through our initiatives, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the evolution of dance in the city and its impact on the cultural landscape.

Chicago Dance History Project welcomes the opportunity to work with the Chicago community to document and preserve our shared history. Whether you're a dance artist, a dance enthusiast, an archivist, an historian – whether you hold particular knowledge or memory related to the city’s historical and current dance practices, or are simply a fan of public histories with a quest to discover, share, contribute and celebrate – we’re eager to speak with you about a participatory role in CDHP’s oral history collections.
