Joan Erdman

Joan Erdman began her studies in South Asian anthropology at Harvard College. While working toward her PhD, at the University of Chicago, she became the South Asia Outreach Coordinator there. Having earned her PhD from UofC in 1980, Dr. Erdman began teaching a Columbia College Chicago in 1986, where she eventually gained her Professorship in the Departments of Anthropology and Cultural Studies, which she held until her death in 2021.
