Claire Bataille was a leading dancer with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago from 1977, when the company was founded, to 1992. She returned to Hubbard Street for the second stage of her career, teaching with HSDC until 2001, also serving as the company's assistant artistic director, ballet mistress, and rehearsal director. From 2008 until 2018 she served as director of the Lou Conte Dance Studio. Claire Bataille was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017; she passed away in the last days of 2018.
