Muriel Foster, a Chicago native, began studying dance with Sammy Dyer in 1941, at age 10. At 19 (1950), she started touring as one of the original Dyerettes. With shows spanning the US, Canada, and the Caribbean, she performed with artists including Sammy Davis, Jr., Nat King Cole, and Duke Ellington. After Sammy Dyer's death in 1960, Foster joined the administration of the Sammy Dyer School of the Theatre. She became the school's director in 1998 and held that position until her retirement in 2020.
