Margaret Nelson

Margaret Nelson is a freelance technical director and lighting designer. After graduating from Northwestern University, she worked for many companies, including the Lyric Opera School, Navy Pier, and the Dance Chicago festival. She has also been a part of the Dance For Life fundraiser since 1994, now working as the Production Stage Manager. She has done lighting design for the Chicago Human Rhythm Project, Ballet Chicago, River North Dance Chicago, and Ensemble Espanol, among many other dance companies and events. Nelson has received two Ruth Page Dance Achievement Awards for Lighting Design and Stage Management, a Joseph Jefferson Citation for Lighting Design at the Organic Theatre, and the inaugural Dance Chicago Excellence in Production Art award.
