Khalidah Kali
Khalida's North African Dance Experience
Khalidah Kali is a dancer, choreographer, and dance educator who founded and leads Khalidah’s North African Dance Experience. Kali has traveled extensively throughout North Africa and the African Diaspora studying the cultures of ancient societies. Having visited Egypt on a dozen dance-study travels, along with travels to over 45 countries world-wide, Kali brings her knowledge of the traditional dances of these regions to the works that she creates for the North African Dance Experience. Kali’s teaching practice specializes in North African Dance, especially Egyptian women’s dancing techniques, as well as Belly Dancing, Middle Eastern Dance, and South Asian Dance. She has taught and performed in institutions throughout Chicago, including Old Town School of Music, Field Museum, Black Ensemble Theater, Bud Billiken Parade, Chicago Cultural Center, and University of Chicago’s International House.
