Julia Hinojosa, a Chicago native, began studying Spanish dance in 2000 with Dame Libby Komaiko, the founder of Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theatre. Since becoming a company dancer in 2005 and a Principal Dancer in 2014, she has performed many featured and leading roles and presented her own choreography. Hinojosa was the Associate Artistic Director of the Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Youth Company and the Assistant Director of Education Programs at Arts + Public Life between 2018 and 2022. From there she became General Manager of Chicago Dancers United (CDU), which supports the health and wellness of Chicago’s professional dance community, a position she continues to hold.
