Ayako Kato

Ayako Kato is a kinetic philosopher/poet and contemporary choreographer/dancer originally from Yokohama, Japan, and now based in Chicago. Kato founded Ayako Kato/ArtUnion Humanscape in 1998 after receiving her MFA from the University of Michigan. She has produced scores of dances and performances with her company locally, at Link's Hall, Pivot Arts, and other venues, and has toured throughout the US, Japan, and Europe. Ayako Kato recently received a Heller Fellowship Award as well as a Sybil Shearer Fellowship at Ragdale.
