Rick Hilsabeck: Defining Early HSDC Style

Chicago native, Rick Hilsabeck, is a dancer and performer. He studied under Lou Conte and was the first principal male dancer with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, in addition to choreographing for the company and teaching at the Lou Conte Dance Studio. Hilsabeck has also starred in many Broadway productions, including Phantom of the Opera. He now lives in Connecticut where he is the co-founder of Wiremill Academy. 


July 30, 2015: Conducted at his studio, Wiremill Academy, Rick Hilsabeck’s interview focuses on his career with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. He discusses working with Lou Conte, chronicles the evolution of the company, and recalls some of his favorite moments as a dancer and choreographer.
