MAYFAIR ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS
The Mayfair Academy of Fine Arts is a dance school located on the South Side of Chicago. It was opened in 1957 by dancer, Tommy Sutton, to allow African-American children to have the same learning experiences as white children. The school is now run by Sutton’s daughter, Peggy.
This collection includes photographs, programs, and posters relating to the Mayfair Academy of Fine Arts. Materials present in the collection represent performances and rehearsals from 1959 through the present day.
