Joan Erdman began her studies in South Asian anthropology at Harvard College. While working toward her PhD, she also became the South Asia Outreach Coordinator at the University of Chicago, where she also studied. She is currently the Professor of Anthropology and Cultural Studies at Columbia College Chicago.
